Uncharted Selves is a portrait series that explores identity as something layered, shifting, and often unresolved. Drawing from personal experience, cultural hybridity, and emotional memory, the work delves into how we come to understand who we are, not just through what is visible, but through what is inherited, felt, and internalised. The portraits are less about likeness and more about psychological presence. They map the quiet spaces between memory and reality, presence and absence, visibility and erasure. Emotions that are rarely articulated: grief, fragmentation, resilience, dissociation, tenderness emerge through expressive mark-making, distortion, and abstraction. The figures become carriers of generational patterns, digital disconnection, personal thresholds, and silent inner conflicts. This series questions the fixedness of identity, especially in a world that constantly demands performance, conformity, and coherence. It considers how cultural expectations, family dynamics, mental health, and digital life all leave their imprint on how we see ourselves and others. Each work invites viewers to pause, reflect, and recognise the fluid, often contradictory nature of being.
